Microsoft is launching new artificial intelligence-powered agents across Microsoft 365 Copilot to help organisations better manage daily tasks.
The purpose-built agents work alongside various applications in the Microsoft ecosystem, including SharePoint, Teams, Business Chat and Planner.
For example, SharePoint agents will be able to provide employees with real-time insights into stored content. Users will be able to create their own agents, tailored to specific files, folders or sites whilst following existing user permissions to ensure data protection.
Meanwhile, in Teams, Facilitator agents will work within meetings and chats to take real-time notes and share important information as the conversation progresses and Interpreter agents will provide real-time translation in up to nine languages so participants can speak and listen in the language of their choice. Meeting participants will also be able to have Interpreter simulate their voice for a more immersive experience.
Users will also be able to create agents in Copilot Studio that can act on their behalf without being prompted.
“It’s not about tech for tech’s sake but it is about translating it into real outcomes,” said Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO of Microsoft in the Microsoft Ignite keynote speech.
To further help organisations realise the value of AI, Microsoft is launching Copilot Analytics, a new solution that will provide administrators with a better understanding of business trends against key performance indicators such as sales, finance and marketing.
“Think of Copilot Analytics as a tool for all of us to change how work, workflow and work artifacts are getting done,” said Nadella.
Nadella also revealed the launch of Windows 365 Link, a portable cloud PC solution designed to provide users with access to their Windows 365 desktop wherever they have access to a monitor.
Device features include high-fidelity experiences for Teams, 4k monitor support and security baseline policies to ensure user data remains protected. Windows 365 Link will be available from April 2025.
