Engineering simulation software provider Ansys announced in February 2023 that it was expanding its cloud-based simulation solutions through an extended collaboration with Microsoft. A new product, called Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, will allow Ansys to bring its simulation technology to the Azure Marketplace, providing its customers with more flexibility and scalability.
The Ansys simulation software suite, which includes products such as Ansys Fluent, Ansys Mechanical and Ansys HFSS, are used by engineers and designers in a variety of industries to model and simulate complex systems and processes. By running simulations in the cloud, users can access the software from anywhere and scale up or down as needed to handle large simulation workloads. This will enable Microsoft and Ansys users to run more simulations in less time and reduce the cost of hardware investments.
“At Ansys, we take pride in providing innovative solutions that deliver tangible benefits to our customers,” says Andy Byers, director of strategic partnerships at Ansys. “We currently have Ansys Cloud Direct running on Microsoft Azure that has generated significant benefits for our clients.”
“However, we are always striving to improve our products and services. That’s why we are actively working to launch Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure, which we believe will provide even more results and enhance the user experience. Our team is dedicated to staying ahead of the curve and utilising the latest technologies to provide the best possible solutions to our customers. We are excited about the potential of Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure and look forward to sharing more details as we continue to develop it.”
The collaboration also includes different go-to-market strategies focusing on digital twins connected to the internet of things, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence, which will enable Microsoft and Ansys users to take advantage of machine learning capabilities to enhance their simulations.
Overall, the extended collaboration between Microsoft and Ansys represents a significant expansion of Ansys’s cloud-based simulation offerings. “By leveraging the power and scalability of Azure, Microsoft and Ansys will be able to provide our customers with more flexible and cost-effective simulation solutions,” says Byers. “This is particularly important in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing, where simulation is a critical tool for product design and development.”
