Manufacturing and industrial organisations should pursue digital transformation in order to meet sustainability goals, according to experts speaking at ARC Advisory Group’s 2023 India Forum, which took place on 12-13 July 2023.
This year’s event was titled ‘Driving sustainability, energy transition and performance through digitalisation’ and featured over 35 speakers, including executives from Microsoft partners such as AVEVA, OPC Foundation and Schneider Electric. These speakers shared insights into recent advancements in areas such as automation, artificial intelligence, analytics and asset management.
“Digital transformation is the only way to effectively respond to the challenges industries face and to meet environmental, social and governance goals,” said Sharada Prahladrao, editor and public relations manager for ARC India in a blog post on the firm’s website. “Energy transition and sustainability are now being woven into the core fabric of business strategies of industrial companies, particularly manufacturing, utility, and oil and gas organisations.”
The sessions at the event advocated for organisations to take a step-by-step approach when beginning their digital transformation journey, starting by developing a realistic strategy. Next, organisations should begin small and scale up, adapt to a ‘new way of doing things’ and finally account for the human element in the transformation process.
