Siemens will make its Siemens Xcelerator as a Service portfolio of industry software available on Microsoft Azure to increase flexibility of choice for its customers and improve product lifecycle management (PLM) for manufacturers.

First, Siemens will deliver its PLM solution, Teamcenter X, on Azure. This will enable organisations to benefit from Microsoft’s artificial intelligence and security tools. This builds on the launch of the Teamcenter application on Microsoft Teams, which connects frontline workers to colleagues in other departments.

“We’re responding to what our customers asked us for,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Through this continued collaboration [with Microsoft] plus the latest advancements in AI and Copilot, we’re building on the launch of the Teamcenter app on Teams, which connects frontline factory and service teams to design and engineering teams through Siemens’ industry-leading Teamcenter software for PLM.”

Siemens will also develop a Copilot for Microsoft 365 plugin for the Siemens Teamcenter app on Teams to enable workers across the product lifecycle process to track and prioritise their workloads. For example, it will help with summarising outstanding tasks within Teams.

“As Microsoft and Siemens continue to deepen our collaboration, we are excited to bring the power of Azure AI to the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to meet growing market demand and help businesses focus on delivering differentiated customer value faster,” said Nick Parker, president of industry and partnerships at Microsoft. “By harnessing our latest advances with generative AI and Copilot capabilities, together we empower design engineers, frontline workers and teams across business functions and geographies, unlocking new levels of customer-centric innovation and productivity.”
