GE Aerospace rolls out generative AI platform to 52,000 employees

GE Aerospace has rolled out its generative artificial intelligence platform, AI Wingmate, to 52,000 employees to improve customer service, enhance security and compliance, and aid colleague training.

The platform uses Azure AI, including Azure OpenAI Service, and allows employees to have human-like conversations, with the aim of reducing the time spent searching through documents. Employees can also draft more tailored communications for specific audiences and create documents. The platform also features a dedicated learning module for Flight Deck, the company’s lean operating model.

Since its launch in June 2024, AI Wingmate has received approximately half a million queries, searches, and other employee interactions, and it has processed over 200,000 pages for different AI chats.

AI Wingmate is the result of more than a decade of investment to integrate AI across business operations for GE Aerospace. AI technology is currently used by the firm for engine monitoring, part inspections, delivery of insights for airline customers regarding maintenance measures, fuel optimisation and safety.
