Euroclear, a Belgium-based financial services company that specialises in processing transactions safely and efficiently, has signed a seven-year partnership with Microsoft to move its technology infrastructure to the cloud.

The first year of the partnership will focus on strengthening the firm’s infrastructure with the built-in compliance and security tools in Microsoft Azure, according to a Microsoft press release. It also aims to enhance customer engagement with AI-driven data insights and to develop a financial data sharing ecosystem.

“Harnessing the latest developments in cloud, AI and analytics is a critical enabler of Euroclear’s strategy and a driver of innovation, new business and resilience,” said Valérie Urbain, CEO of Euroclear. “Microsoft’s technology leadership and understanding of financial markets make it an ideal strategic partner for the next stage in our journey. This mutually beneficial relationship greatly accelerates our ambitions and should bring us much closer to clients.”
