Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft have expanded their partnership to deliver high-performance cloud computing experiences. By combining their network, cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities, the two firms aim to accelerate their customers’ digitalisation journeys, increasing productivity, building more resilient operations and delivering new cloud offerings faster.
Deutsche Telekom plans to migrate its internal IT workloads to the public cloud by 2025. It will deliver a company-wide training programme to help employees understand how to effectively use the Microsoft Azure cloud.
It will also offer customers direct access to the Microsoft cloud through Azure ExpressRoute. Microsoft says that bypassing the public internet will increase customer’s agility through faster connectivity to better address regional compliance and data residency needs.
As part of the partnership, Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise customer unit T-Systems has made Azure its preferred cloud platform to enable customers to “harness the global scale, security and latest advances”.
“The case for digital transformation has never been more urgent,” said Jean-Philippe Courtois, executive vice president and president of sales, marketing and operations at Microsoft. “We know that the next decade of economic performance for every business, whether large or small, will depend on the digital investments made today. Through this strategic partnership, which combines the power of Deutsche Telekom’s network and Microsoft’s cloud, customers will have more opportunities to become resilient, accelerate innovation and ultimately drive success.”
Microsoft and Deutsche Telekom have also developed an initiative to reimagine education in German schools. Deutsche Telekom will now offer Microsoft 365 to facilitate remote learning.
