The Flemish government has entered a strategic partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the digital transformation of the Flanders region in Belgium.
As part of the agreement, Microsoft 365 will be accessible for all Flemish and local administrations and Copilot will be made available for 10,000 public sector employees.
The Flemish government will also focus on innovation in AI through the integration of Copilot to increase the efficiency of its services following pilot projects that took place in 2024.
“AI will also make the work of administrations simpler and more efficient,” said Matthias Diependaele, Flemish minister-president and Flemish minister for digitalisation. “We want to adopt it thoughtfully, within a clear, ethical and secure framework. That is why we intend to equip 10,000 employees of the Flemish government with Copilot in the coming years. This solution will act as a personal digital assistant, facilitating communication and collaboration tasks. Thanks to this, our employees will be able to work more productively, by accessing and processing documents or files more quickly.”
