Microsoft has launched a new employee experience platform called Microsoft Viva, which will help “organisations create a thriving culture with engaged employees”, said Microsoft 365 corporate vice president, Jared Spataro.
The platform is designed to help employees “learn, grow and thrive”, according to Microsoft, and integrates with the productivity and collaboration capabilities of Microsoft 365 and Teams.
“We have participated in the largest at-scale remote work experiment the world has seen, and it has had a dramatic impact on the employee experience,” said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. “Every organisation will require a unified employee experience from onboarding and collaboration to continuous learning and growth. Viva brings together everything an employee needs to be successful, from day one, in a single, integrated experience directly in Teams.”
Microsoft says that the platform “builds on the power of Teams and Microsoft 365 to unify the employee experience across four key areas – engagement, well-being, learning and knowledge.”
The initial modules include: Viva Connections, a personal gateway to the digital workplace where users can access internal communications and company resources; Viva Insights, which provides personal insights to help individuals better manage their time; Viva Learning, where users can access training and professional development resources; and Viva Topics, which Microsoft says “delivers a knowledge discovery experience that helps people connect to information and experts across the company”.
“Microsoft Viva is a ground-breaking employee experience platform, ushering in a new enterprise software category that focuses entirely on the daily needs of employees at work,” said Josh Bersin, research analyst and employee experience technology expert. “Viva will enable companies to integrate their fragmented workplace tools and provide them in the flow of work.”
