The new Windows 11 operating system from Microsoft is now available as a free upgrade for Windows 10 users.

According to Panos Panay, chief product officer of Windows and devices at Microsoft, the upgrade offers a number of new features that aim to “empower your productivity and inspire your creativity”.

These include Snap Layouts, Snap Groups and Desktops; integrated Microsoft Teams chat in the taskbar and artificial intelligence-powered widgets

“We’re pumped to be launching Windows 11; the entire user experience brings you closer to what you love, empowers you to produce and inspires you to create,” said Panay. “Windows 11 provides a sense of calm and openness. It gives you a place that feels like home. It’s secure and everything is designed to be centred around you.”
