Microsoft has developed a Cybersecurity Roadmap as part of its Plan Transforma Chile initiative, which aims to improve collaboration, remote learning and scalability of services for Chilean companies.

The Roadmap is designed to improve the national security of the country, including projects that can be implemented by 2025.

Microsoft worked with the Anacleto Angelini UC Innovation Center to develop the plan over eight months, with guidance from decision-makers  of large enterprises across the private, public and academic sectors.

“This Roadmap allows us to commit to carrying out important actions that generate an effect in the short and long term for cybersecurity in the country,” said María Francisca Yáñez, manager of innovation and technology at Microsoft Chile and chair of the Cybersecurity Roadmap. “One of the initiatives that is already being implemented is the first Minimum Viable Product of the cybersecurity academy, promoted by the UC Innovation Center and Microsoft. This program has made it possible to train native cybersecurity professionals in careers as diverse as engineering, art, social sciences and health areas.”

Through the Roadmap, Microsoft also aims to prevent security risks that have been introduced through the adoption of technology and digital transformation in recent years.

“Today, it is critical to systematically and continuously protect information flows against all types of attacks,” said Ramón Molina, executive director of the UC Innovation Center and co-chair of the Cybersecurity Roadmap. “The challenge, beyond technology and data, is in how to deal with threats to security systems.  “For this reason, from the Anacleto Angelini UC Innovation Center, and together with Microsoft Chile, we have promoted the development of a space in which representatives of companies, academia, the public sector and civil society can define strategic guidelines and concrete and executable projects in a period of three years, which allow Chile to develop effective digital security, becoming a benchmark for the region.”
