DigiGirlz Day provides opportunities to empower and educate secondary school students

Amber Hickman |

Microsoft held its annual DigiGirlz Day technology seminar on 28 October 2022. The free virtual event was available to all secondary school girls in Trinidad and Tobago and focused on education and empowerment by giving them the opportunity to learn about careers in technology.

During the event, students were able to connect with Microsoft employees, participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops, and gain experience with coding and application building.

“Gender inclusion is important to Microsoft since there is a significant gender disparity in the workplace,” said Carla Lopez, education lead at Microsoft Caribbean. “We hope to educate, motivate, and grow the number of women working in technology through DigiGirlz.”

More than 65,000 students have attended the DigiGirlz Technology Programs since they began in 2000.
