Based in Linkoping, Sweden, Simplygon’s technology helps developers push the boundaries of 3D. This is done by helping creators and users of 3D data across a number of industries optimise their content pipelines and streamline their workflows.
Following the acquisition agreement, it is hoped that Simplygon’s technology will support Microsoft across the area of 3D creation, making it easier for users to capture, create and share in 3D.
The move supports recent moves from Microsoft in the 3D space, while includes the 10 Creators Update, Paint 3D and Remix3D.com – Microsoft’s online creator community.
Kudo Tsunod, corporate vice president of Next Gen Experiences for the Windows and Devices Group, said: “This acquisition accelerates our 3D For Everyone vision and strategy, which we introduced with the Windows 10 Creators Update at our event this past October in New York.”
