Microsoft has released the new Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2, both of which are significantly faster than their predecessors thanks to their eighth-generation Intel Quad Core processors.
Billed as the most powerful of the Surface Pro devices to date, the new Surface Pro 6 is the first in the series to feature a Quad Core processor, which makes it 67% faster than its predecessor. The thin, lightweight device also features the familiar adjustable built-in kickstand, detachable keyboard with integrated trackpad, 12.3-inch PixelSense Display with 10-point multi-touch functionality, front- and rear-facing cameras, dual microphones and stereo speakers. It is available in platinum or an all-new matte black colour and offers up to 13.5 hours of battery life.
“We wanted this product to be the device you can bring with you anywhere since you never know when or where your moments of inspiration will strike,” said Panos Panay, Microsoft’s chief product officer, in a blog post.
The Surface Laptop 2 is 85% faster than the original Surface Laptop and boasts a 13.5-inch PixelSense Touch Display with 10-point multi-touch functionality, a built-in keyboard covered in Alcantara material, a trackpad, omnisonic speakers, a front-facing camera and 14.5 hours of battery life. The laptop is available in matte black in all markets, and also in blush in China.
“Every detail on this product has been thought through, from the depth of the new matte black finish to the redesign of the thermal system to keep the quiet elegance of the device,” said Panay.
