Microsoft is developing an update for Teams that will give users the ability to see live captions in seven new languages.
The English language version of the feature was added to the platform in 2018, providing a transcript of meetings in real time to help participants follow conversations. According to the Microsoft product roadmap, the capability will be expanded to include German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Dutch by July 2021.
Live captions are designed to improve the Teams virtual meeting experience for both native and non-native speakersand enhance accessibility, for instance to those with hearing impairments.
