Microsoft will launch its new Chromium-based Edge browser on 15 January. The upgrade will use Google Chromium Projects to offer better web compatibility and security support.
Its new features include faster search within an enterprise; the ability to access Microsoft Search in Bing on mobile phones; and SmartScreen and Tracking prevention to protect against phishing schemes and malware.
For enterprise customers, the new Edge will also include Internet Explorer mode to ensure a seamless experience across internal sites with legacy dependencies.
The upcoming rollout will also make Edge available for Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8 and macOS.
