Microsoft has expanded its cybersecurity capabilities with Security Experts – a new service category that combines expert-trained threat intelligence technology with human-led services.
Cybercrime is expected to cost the world $10.5 trillion each year by 2025, according to Cybercrime Magazine. To address this, Microsoft Security Experts aims to help businesses create an effective security strategy that achieves “more secure, compliant and productive outcomes”.
“Our vision is to deliver this new category of services across security, compliance, identity, management and privacy,” said Vasu Jakkal, corporate vice president of security, compliance, identity and management at Microsoft. “The first step on that journey is offering new and expanded services for security.”
Microsoft has collaborated with its partner ecosystem to design three new managed services that will help enterprise customers to better defend their businesses against cybercrime.
“Microsoft Defender Experts for Hunting is for customers who have a robust security operations centre but want Microsoft to help them proactively hunt for threats across Microsoft Defender data, including endpoints, Office 365, cloud applications, and identity,” said Jakkal. “Our experts will investigate anything they find and then hand off the contextual alert information and remediation instructions so you can quickly respond.”
Also new is Microsoft Defender Experts for XDR, a managed extended detection and response (XDR) service that provides detection and response across Microsoft 365 Defender, investigating alerts and using automation and human expertise to respond to incidents alongside customers’ own teams.
The third new managed service is Microsoft Security Services for Enterprise. The expert-led service combines proactive threat hunting and managed XDR to protect all cloud environments and platforms. “Dedicated Microsoft security experts manage onboarding, daily interactions, practice modernisation, and incident response for you,” said Jakkal.
Each of the managed services will either be available in preview or generally available in 2022.
“One of our core principles at Microsoft Security is security for all,” said Jakkal. “At the end of the day, we know that a single provider can’t meet the unique needs of every organisation. That’s why Microsoft is fully committed to working with an ecosystem of partners and technologies that provide customers the flexibility to choose what works for them – and to leverage those trusted relationships for the best outcomes and returns on their investment.”
