Canadian technology and consumer internet of things company Nanoleaf has improved its supply chain productivity by 33 per cent by implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
The enterprise resource planning solution – now being used across offices in Canada, China, France, and more – was rolled out over four months with help from Microsoft partner MNP Digital. In doing so, Nanoleaf has been able to integrate its finance, supply chain, forecasting and business management operations together to enhance its customer service. For example, real-time data on product sales and inventory levels helps employees to manage the supply chain more effectively.
“We looked for a system which could be customised by us, for us, so that it could be shaped to meet the unique needs of various teams,” said Paul Austin-Menear, vice president of commerce operations at Nanoleaf, in a recent Microsoft customer story. “At the same time, we wanted a system which had appropriate design constraints and controls in place to help keep us in compliance with common accounting standards under the International Financial Reporting Standards rules.”
Adopting Dynamics 365 Business Central has also streamlined operations, enabling Nanoleaf to monitor inventory by creating job queues that organise, track and process orders.
The finance team now uses the time previously spent on manual tasks for financial planning and cashflow management, which has become more effective as a result.
“Process automation gives our team more time and space to focus on creative problem solving and being proactive by eliminating menial, repetitive data entry tasks,” said Austin-Menear.
