The London Metropolitan Police (The Met) has chosen Microsoft partner New Signature to help facilitate its digital policing transformation. New Signature will help the organisation to leverage the Microsoft Azure Cloud as part of its ‘Digital Policing’ initiative, which aims to give police officers and members of the public the best possible technology experience.
To deliver the capabilities required to fulfil The Met’s digital policing vision, New Signature will onboard and optimise The Met’s new Azure cloud environment to facilitate existing applications and servers as well as house new cloud native apps. This environment will be the core platform for launching new capabilities with increased speed, efficiency and security. For managed service support of the entire environment, a new ground-up Network Operations Centre is also being built, optimised for the stringent security measures required by The Met.
In order to facilitate cultural buy-in, the New Signature team has worked closely with business leads at The Met to understand individual requirements and to educate and enthuse all stakeholders around the benefit and value of the cloud. Once the underlying Azure platform and first set of applications are live in the cloud in early 2019, it will begin a continuous innovation programme to enable every business unit to leverage the platform to meet their own specific goals.
Angus McCallum, chief information officer at The Met, said: “We are very pleased to have selected New Signature to help us as we start to develop and implement our cloud first strategy transition. As a Gold certified Microsoft Partner ‘born in the cloud’ they bring significant expertise and impressive experience of supporting other organisations on the journey to the cloud. The Met is committed to ensuring all of our people have the right technology to do their jobs with excellence and New Signature’s involvement is a critical part of building our capability and achieving fast results.”
New Signature UK founder, Dan Scarfe, is also delighted with the partnership: “We are incredibly proud to have been selected to partner with The Met Police and make their digital vision a reality. Being able to help them on that journey, over larger systems integrators and previous providers, is a watershed moment. Like many other organisations, they have recognised the benefit of working with a cloud specialist to unlock new opportunities and create an agile, future-proof technology environment. This is also a huge opportunity for us to work with other security focused organisations and help them to transform in the cloud.”
