Palantir Technologies and Microsoft will deliver cloud and artificial intelligence services for classified networks in US defence and intelligence agencies.

This will be the first time that an integrated suite of technologies will be deployed within Microsoft’s secure government and cloud environments. Palantir will deploy its suite of products, including its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) and Gotham software that helps to locate targets on battlefields, in both the Microsoft Azure Government Secret and Top Secret clouds, pending government authorisation.

The collaboration aims to facilitate the safe and responsible use of AI to support various national security functions such as logistics, contracting and strategic planning.

“Bringing Palantir and Microsoft capabilities to our national security apparatus is a step change in how we can support the defence and intelligence communities,” said Shyam Sankar, chief technology officer at Palantir. “Palantir AIP has pioneered the approach to operationalising AI value – beyond chat – across the enterprise. It’s our mission to deliver this software advantage and we’re thrilled to be the first industry partner to deploy Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in classified environments.”

Additionally, Palantir’s Federal Cloud Service can now be deployed on Microsoft Azure’s IL5 environments.

To support the implementation of these technologies, Palantir and Microsoft will offer bootcamp experiences.

“This expanded partnership between Microsoft and Palantir will help accelerate the safe, secure and responsible deployment of advanced AI capabilities for the U.S. government,” said Deb Cupp, president of Microsoft Americas. “Palantir, a leader in delivering actionable insights to government, will now leverage the power of Microsoft’s government and classified clouds and robust Azure OpenAI models to further develop AI innovations for national security missions.”
