Rick Lievano, chief technology officer of worldwide telecommunications industry at Microsoft, shared how Microsoft and its partners are supporting the telecommunications industry.
“The mobile industry is undergoing a massive transformation as it prepares for the next generation of connectivity, services and experiences,” said Lievano in a blog post on LinkedIn. “Artificial intelligence is at the heart of this change, enabling telcos to optimise their networks, create new revenue streams and enhance customer experience.”
Lievano shared some examples of how Microsoft and its partners have been working in the industry, including its partnerships with firms such as Telstra and Telefonica as well as its work with Nokia and A1 to deploy the first 5G edge cloud network slicing solution.
Lievano also shared some of the highlights from Mobile World Congress 2024, which took place on 26-29 February 2024. At the event, Microsoft focused on ‘telco transformation in the era of AI’, which was made up of four key areas: elevating customer experiences, streamlining business operations, modernising the network and monetising 5G and beyond.
