Industrial automation and information company Rockwell Automation held an online event on 16 June 2022 to explore the manufacturing potential of cloud adoption and the internet of things (IoT) as part of its ROKLive event in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Rockwell’s Beth Parkinson, director of global technical enablement, and Dalma Ghafoor, global technical lead of IoT, discussed the benefits of cloud storage with Danilo Diaz, technical director of Microsoft Azure IoT Solutions.
Topics covered include the impact of the pandemic on remote working, manufacturers’ technological needs, cloud solutions and machine learning. For example, Ghafoor explained how the data stored within the cloud allows companies to make use of predictive maintenance, which is developed from data analysis and accurate machine learning models. Other benefits of predictive maintenance include production cycle time, operational principles and dealing with design failure.
Diaz also highlighted the importance of to finding value within data so that companies can build from this, and outlined how Microsoft is working with Rockwell to understand and solve manufacturers’ problems.
