British supermarket retailer Sainsbury’s has extended its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to leverage the cloud to accelerate digital transformation, modernise infrastructure, enhance agility and drive growth.

The collaboration builds on a partnership of over 10 years and will see TCS modernise Sainsbury’s IT landscape into a hybrid cloud stack using TCS Enterprise Cloud. TCS will also provide end-to-end managed services for modern workplace services, network connectivity and security.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Sainsbury’s and help them achieve their cloud-first strategy while setting up a solid foundation for future growth,” said Shankar Narayanan, president of TCS’s Retail Cluster. “With our domain knowledge, technology expertise, and experience in driving business transformations, we will enable Sainsbury’s to achieve digital scale and realise benefits in their value chain.”

This greater focus on the cloud is expected to help Sainsbury’s speed up time to market, create new revenue streams and enhance agility to respond to emerging business scenarios.

“This platform transformation underpinned by a cloud-first strategy is critical for our business,” said Phil Jordan, group chief information officer at Sainsbury’s. “TCS was the partner of choice given their deep contextual knowledge and ability to align this transformation to our business strategy and vision.”
