Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) is to host the first Riyadh Smart Cities Forum in early 2024, bringing together national, regional and global experts to advance the Saudi Arabia-wide discussion on people-centric, smart and sustainable cities.

The forum is being developed as part of SDAIA’s new three-year partnership with FIRA Barcelona, which organises the annual Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

According to SDAIA, the Riyadh Smart Cities Forum will showcase Saudi Arabia’s latest smart city innovations and provide a platform for discussions between city leaders, mayors, digital governance bodies, and other smart city and sustainability experts from around the world.

“As the global landscape of cities undergoes a transformative shift, Saudi Arabia is at the vanguard, charting the course for smart city evolution,” said His Excellency Dr Esam Alwagait, director of the National Information Centre at SDAIA. “Our steadfast commitment to innovation and sustainability is setting new benchmarks for urban development and providing forward-thinking blueprints for the metropolises of the future. In this journey, we are reshaping our engagement with urban spaces, with the wellbeing and needs of our citizens as our core focus.”
