Swift will kick off Sibos 2024 with an opening plenary that aims to highlight both the opportunities and challenges that the financial services industry is facing.
The plenary will include insight from Pan Gongsheng, governor of the People’s Bank of China; Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing; and Bill Winters, group chief executive of Standard Chartered.
Gongsheng is set to draw from his expertise in commercial banking across PBOC, Foreign Exchange and the Agricultural Bank of China. Yong will provide both a domestic and international perspective on the financial landscape, calling on his background as deputy governor of PBOC and Foreign Exchange, and Winters, having spent 26 years at J.P. Morgan before joining Standard Chartered, will provide insight into how best to drive the climate finance agenda.
“Governor Pan Gongsheng, Mayor Yin Yong, and Bill Winters are exceptional leaders, and their invaluable global experience will set the stage for a week of expert discussion and debate, as the financial services community comes together in Beijing,” said Jaime Lee, head of Sibos for Swift. “This year’s conference theme, ‘Connecting the future of finance’, will explore the opportunities and challenges facing our industry. From rapid digital transformation to building an inclusive financial ecosystem, Sibos 2024 will be another insightful window into the future of the sector.”
