Telecommunications firm Telefónica is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate Azure AI Studio into its digital ecosystem Kernal.
The firm uses Kernal to develop new products and service. Telefónica will use the new generative artificial intelligence features to improve its data management and privacy offerings for customers.
“AI is opening up huge new growth opportunities for operators,” said Jason Zander, executive vice president of strategic missions and technologies at Microsoft, during the opening session of MWC Barcelona, where he joined Chema Alonso, chief digital officer of Telefónica (pictured). “Telefónica’s integration of generative AI into Kernel is a good example of this: by creating a centralised AI platform, it will be able to drive complete business transformation and apply AI at scale to all functions of the organisation.”
Microsoft has also revealed that Telefónica will be one of the operators included in its Azure Programmable Connectivity service, as part of the firm’s commitment to Open Gateway, which will simplify developer’s access to the application programming interfaces of telecommunication networks.
