Data loss is one of the biggest concerns for system administrators when it comes to external file sharing across Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive according to Tricent, a file sharing solution provider and Microsoft partner.

Shared in an online blog post, other concerns for system administrators include a lack of control over file sharing, blind spots, tracking file access and user security awareness.

To tackle these issues the firm suggests using a file-sharing governance solution, such as the Tricent platform. The platform allows administrators to perform comprehensive audits of all shares SharePoint items, gain an overview of all permissions granted, administrate bulk remediation and set blanket rules for users.

In addition, Tricent offers a digital calculator tool to help administrators estimate their organisation’s external file exposure.
