Some of the biggest challenges facing cities are minimising pollution, improving public transportation usage and starting to use shared vehicles for travel.
Cloud services will make integration easier with all services and technology providers. That means we can handle all methods of transportation and provide multimodal travelling chains. With that, we can lower CO2, improve the sharing economy, prevent traffic jams and minimise car parking spaces in cities.
Microsoft’s CityNext technology portfolio provides a good cloud-based integration platform for all solution providers to improve sustainability in cities. Our solutions include multimodal transportation with tickets combined into one transaction (travelling, events and other services), as well as integrated digital maps for route planning and location-based services. Users can make payments using digital payment methods that they have learned to use for other purchases. We are also starting to use big data to support city planning and maximise route efficiencies.
