The new Windows 11 operating system – which Microsoft says will bring users “closer to what they love” – will be available on 5 October 2021.
On this day the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs, and those that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.
The operating system was unveiled in June 2021, and since then has been tested by the Windows Insider community to improve the user experience.
“As the PC continues to play a more central role in our lives than ever before – Windows 11 is ready to empower your productivity and inspire your creativity,” said Aaron Woodman, general manager of Windows marketing at Microsoft.
