27 Thailand A new data centre region will expand the availability of Microsoft’s cloud services and facilitate enterprise-grade reliability, performance and compliance with data residency and privacy standards for its customers. Microsoft also aims to provide AI skilling opportunities for over 100,000 people. Japan To support the government’s plan to tackle deflation and stimulate its economy, Microsoft will contribute $2.9 billion to develop cloud computing and AI infrastructure over the next two years. It is the largest single investment Microsoft has made in Japan in its 46-year history of working in the country. Kenya Microsoft’s $1 billion investment is the single largest and broadest private digital investment in Kenya’s history. The funds will be used to create a green data centre, constructed by G42 and its partners, which will host Microsoft Azure services in a new East Africa Cloud Region. Malaysia Over the next four years, Microsoft will spend $2.2 billion to develop infrastructure and deliver AI skilling opportunities for 200,000 people. This will contribute to Microsoft’s larger commitment to help train 2.5 million people with AI skills across countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Indonesia Microsoft will invest $1.7 billion to build in new infrastructure and enhance existing data centre and cloud computing services in Indonesia over the next four years. It will also provide education programmes to train 840,000 young people, women and employees of nonprofit organisations.
